Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara national reserve
Today you will be picked up at around 7.30 am; after a safari briefing by your guide, depart to Masai Mara, with a stopover at the great rift valley viewpoint which takes almost 30 minutes. Then you will proceed with your journey to Mara, with another short stopover in Narok town for a quick call. You will arrive at Mara in time for lunch. After lunch embarks on an afternoon game drive. Later return to the camp for dinner and overnight at Ashnil Mara Camp.
An exploratory drive around the 1,792 sq. km game park with its low hills and savannah-type rolling grasslands, gallery forest on the Mara River, and its tributaries. Get introduced to the herbivores; elephant, rhino, buffalo, various antelopes, the Masai giraffe, and the Burchell zebra. The carnivores are the black mane lion, cheetah, and leopard. Also, to be sure, the largest giant, the Masai ostrich, the Secretary bird, the crested crane, and the saddle-bill stork.
Day 2: Masai Mara national reserve
Optional Early Morning balloon safari ride (US$450.00 per person) across the Maasai Mara plain. Breakfast at the lodge, then enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. Masai Mara is an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Game abounds here; The Mara is noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black-maned males.
There great Migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest and other antelope crossing the mighty Mara River. You are also likely to see many elephants here, often in large herds, and – if you're lucky leopard, cheetah and rhino.
Day 3: Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park
You will have early morning breakfast. Check out and depart to Kenya-Tanzania border – Isebania/Sirare with packed lunch. Upon reaching the border, finalise with the immigration department, where you will exchange the vehicle and the tour guide and proceed with your tour. Upon arrival in the park, have an en-route game drive heading to the lodge. You will arrive at your lodge on time for dinner and relaxation.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
You will explore central Serengeti with Morning and afternoon game drives. After breakfast, leave your lodge with packaged lunch (or have lunch at the lodge), have a game drive in the park and arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or on your request. Tanzania's Serengeti offers superb game-viewing even out of migration time, when vast herds of buffalo, eland, topi, waterbuck, impala, kongoni, and Grant’s gazelle can be seen grazing in the thousands. The Serengeti is famous for its migrating wildebeest and herbivores and its high concentration of big cats and other predators that these grazers attract. The Serengeti is also home to smaller cats, such as the caracal and serval, jackal, fox, mongoose and genet.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro crater
Today you will have an early morning game drive before breakfast (you will carry a picnic
breakfast) to spot animals when they are active and enjoy the sunrise. Later you will head
back to the lodge for your lunch; in the afternoon, head to Ngorongoro crater (The crater is
one of the most impressive sights to be seen anywhere.), where you will arrive after a 2-hour
drive. Relax at the lodge, swim while waiting for your dinner, and overnight at Ngorongoro
Serena safari lodge.
Day 6: Ngorongoro crater game drive, then drives to Arusha.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a crater tour. This is a world heritage site; the incomparable Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest “caldera”. Dominated by cliffs standing some 600 meters high and presenting a sheer drop down to a wide-open space of some 246 square km, you may see everything from elephant to lion, and if you’re lucky, the near-extinct black rhino, all amongst large herds of zebra and wildebeest. Afternoon drive back to Arusha.
